Summer Fun

Hey Friends.

We have been missing a bit but we are getting back in gear.  We apologize for the late notice of this month's events but here goes: 

JUNE events:

This Friday, June 28th, we are going to the Big Mo Drive In to see a double feature:  Monster's University and Iron Man 3.  We will meet at the West Columbia Stake Center (1440 Whipporwhill Dr., West Columbia, SC  29169) at 6:30pm to carpool or you are welcome to meet us there.  We have invited the YSA group to join in the fun.  Each individual is responsible for his / her own admission to the event.  The cost is $8.00 (CASH ONLY).  Please bring chairs, snacks, games, and whatever else you may need for this night of fun.

Sunday, June 30th, we will hold FHE at the Institute Building at 7:00pm.


JULY and AUGUST activities are in the works and we will post final details / info when they are available.  Additional upcoming FHE dates are: 

Sunday, July 28th at the Institute Building at 7:00pm.

and...

Sunday, August 25th at the Institute Building at 7:00pm.


Also, please SAVE THE DATE... we are having another mini mid-singles conference, w/ dinner and dance coming up on October 19th.  We will be sending out more information in the coming weeks and months.  Please stay posted.

Special Olympics.

Service Opportunity in May!!

We have been invited by the Columbia YSA program to participate as volunteers with the adult athlete Special Olympics to be held here in Columbia, on May 4th.  It is an all day service activity from 8:00am-3:00pm.  Slots are open for score keepers, timers, and escorts.  A time commitment is required - but if you need to leave early that is ok... we just need to know in advance. 

To participate: 

Please email us your name, a good email address, and your t-shirt size.  Also, if you need to leave early please indicate that in your email.  I need this information no later than Sunday, April 21st.

Spring Break.

Hey Friends! April is a busy month so we are taking a spring break. There will be no planned social activity during the month of April. However we will hold our scheduled FHE on Sunday, April 28th at 7:00pm at the Institute building. Also the YSA group has invited us to participate in their annual service activity with the Special Olympics, which is scheduled for the first part of May. Please check back as details regarding that activity will be forthcoming.

And, just a reminder: Saturday, April 6th at 12:00pm and 4:00pm -- General Conference (Priesthood session is at 8:00pm). Sunday, April 7th at 12:00pm and 4:00pm -- General Conference.

March Madness.

Mid-single happenings for the month of March: 

Saturday, March 9th at 10:00am at AMC Dutch Square 14 (800 Bush River Rd., Columbia): 

For our mid-singles March activity we are going to the movies!  Come join us to watch "Oz the Great and Powerful".  The cost of the movie is $5.00.  Anyone interested can join us for lunch at Chick-fil-a after the movie.  Please bring money sufficient to cover your individual costs.  ** Note this is opening weekend and the first matinee tends to fill quickly.  It is recommended that you either arrive early or pre-purchase your ticket.

Friday, March 15th - Saturday, March 16th at the Columbia Stake Center (4440 Ft. Jackson Blvd, Columbia):

Multi-state Single Adult Conference (ages 31 and up).  On Friday night at 7:00pm Elder Giddens from the Area Seventy will hold a special fireside.  On Saturday there will be conference sessions, temple session / free time, dinner, and a dance.  For more information or to RSVP contact:  scldsconf2013@gmail.com .

Mini Mid-Singles Conference!!

“Come Let Us Anew”

Join us for our first mini mid-singles conference of 2013!

When:  Saturday, January 26, 2013.  Registration begins at 12:00 noon.

Where:  The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2350 White Pine Road, Columbia, SC  29223.

Who:  Mid-single adults, ages 26-45, all divorces must be final.

Schedule: 

12:00-1:45 – Registration / Mix & Mingle

2:00-5:15 – Seminars

                        “Resolutions – Setting and Fulfilling Worthwhile Goals”

                        “Our Time as a Stream”

                        “Keeping the Faith, Finishing the Course”

** Please wear church dress for the seminar portion of the conference. 

** Dress for the dance is casual – no shorts.
